Status of Litigation

Ongoing Discovery

The Eaton Fire litigation is ongoing in Los Angeles County Superior Court, with thousands of claims filed and consolidated, and discovery just beginning in earnest. Cases are proceeding through coordinated mass-tort litigation through discovery, motions, and bellwether (aka “test”) trials

Consolidated Mass Action:

All of the cases have been coordinated and are currently proceeding before Judge Laura A. Siegle.

Primary Defendants

Virtually all victim claims center on allegations that SCE equipment caused the fire:

  • Plaintiffs allege negligent maintenance, failure to de-energize lines, and unsafe transmission infrastructure.

  • Mounting evidence and federal allegations point to faulty Edison equipment as the likely ignition source.

Cross Defendants

Edison recently filed cross-complaints blaming government agencies and other utilities. These cross-defendants include Los Angeles County, Pasadena Water & Power, Southern California Gas and various other agencies.
